Crefstudio is the creative world of Enzo Cref. Born in Naples in 1983, Enzo Cref is an Italian Art Director, Designer, Visual Artist and Video Director. He approaches the world of art by discovering graffiti in ’97. Graduated with honors in Painting with a specialization in Visual Arts and Disciplines of the Performing Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, the city where he lives and works. Multidisciplinary artist and designer, his work ranges between different media: from painting to installation, from graphics to video, in a constant mix of art, design and communication, in which letters and words are often the leading character in their different forms and in their expressive or purely aesthetic value, with the conviction that, for the time we live in and the technologies we have available, the medium cannot limit the idea.

BIOGRAPHY

Fascinated since he was a child by the signs of the shops he saw in the city, he discovered that those bright letters of the early 90’s attracted attention and remained impressed, giving life to an immediate communication that colored and illuminated the street. Sometime after in that same urban context, he discovered graffiti. He became a writer and started to paint the letters experimenting their expressive abilities, following a path that would lead him to approach the use of computer graphics.
After graduation, in 2002 he began his career at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he was be able to confront new expressive resources, including painting, installation, design, and to study classical and contemporary art. In 2006 he graduated with honors in “Painting” and in June of the same year, he was selected by the jury directed by Renato Barilli, among the finalists of the fifth edition of the “Dams Prize” in the “Art” section. In 2008 he graduated with honors, the two-year Specialized Degree in “Visual Arts and Disciplines of the Show”, with a thesis on “Design for Visual Communication”. He also won the logo design competition for the 200th anniversary of the Naples State Archives. In the following years, he exhibited his works within artistic events in various Italian cities, in galleries, and in important locations such as the Royal Palace of Caserta, the National Art Gallery of Bologna, the State Archives of Naples and the Santa Sofia Complex in Salerno.
Together with the artistic activity, he works as Art Director and Visual Designer, both as Freelance and for Communication Agencies for various clients, creating brands, visual identities, editorial materials, packaging up to the video productions.
He also created Cover Artwork for the discs of various artists. Since 2011 he has also directed several music videos specially for the rap group “Capeccapa”, of which he is one of the rappers and founders.
Since 2020 he has been a teacher of Graphic Design at ILAS – Academy of Visual Communication, as well as holding some workshops and seminars on graphic design.
In July 2021 he was among the nine artists from Campania chosen by Glo Italia for the Art&more project, for which he created an 11×30 meter work on pvc canvas installed on the floor of the Caracciolo seafront in Naples, entitled “The Partenope labyrinth” which receives great interest, from which a limited edition fine art print will be made in 2022.
In 2023 he was art director and designer of the catalog and visual communication for the anthological exhibition “IABO20th 2003-2023” at the Pan-Palazzo delle Arti in Naples.
