La lettera come punto di partenza di una comunicazione invisibile, impalpabile ma che comunque esiste, è tra di noi, in ogni nostra giornata, è la materializzazione di un concetto astratto. Le lettere fanno parte della nostra vita, le produciamo e riproduciamo, ci sfiorano passandoci accanto, sono tutte intorno, nell’aria, le scambiamo con gli altri, le utilizziamo in ogni momento della giornata, proprio come i nostri amati elettrodomestici.
Le lettere quindi non sono più un concetto astratto, prendono vita, si trasformano in un organismo che entra a far parte della nostra esistenza; diventano cibo per la mente. Esse possono essere conservate e tirate fuori al momento giusto (frigorifero), oppure possono essere rielaborate e cotte (tostapane) per un sapore più deciso e consapevole, oppure se ne potrebbe prendere una manciata e mischiarle (frullatore) per ottenere interessanti frullati multilinguistici e multiculturali. L’essenzialità grafica è scelta per rappresentare non l’oggetto in quanto tale, ma una sua idealizzazione, per coniugare graficamente un oggetto reale ben presente nella mente e nelle case di tutti con le lettere, le parole e la comunicazione, ugualmente presenti, ma meno tangibili.
The letter as the starting point of an invisible communication, impalpable but that still exists, is between us, in every day of our lives, is the materialization of an abstract concept. Letters are part of our life, we produce and reproduce them, they touch us passing by, they are all around, in the air, we exchange them with others, we use them at every moment of the day, just like our beloved appliances.
Letters are therefore no longer an abstract concept, they come to life, they become an organism that becomes part of our existence; they become food for the mind. They can be stored and taken out at the right time (refrigerator), or they can be reworked and cooked (toaster) for a more decided and conscious flavor, or you could take a handful and mix them (blender) to obtain interesting multilingual and multicultural smoothies. The graphic essentiality is chosen to represent not the object as such, but its idealization, to graphically combine a real object well present in the mind and homes of all with letters, words and communication, equally present, but less tangible.
